I am a self-taught artist living and working in Chicago, Illinois. For the last ten years, I have been drawing under a set of principles that amount to a sort of 'schematic calligraphy.' For as long as I can remember, I have understood the world around me as a network of interlocking systems. This structural, holographic awareness can be overwhelming, so I devised a way of drawing, inspired by Zen calligraphy, in an attempt to express that way of seeing in as simple and graceful a manner as possible.
Each drawing is immediate and unsketched, an active meditation on a scene, a moment in time, or a state of being. Every stroke is preserved, and every piece will be posted, in the spirit of preserving the immediacy and openness of gesture.
